US Soccer Federation Europe (US Youth Soccer Europe)

US Youth Soccer Europe (USYS Europe) is the US soccer federation in Europe. The federation enables American children and teenagers living in Europe to train regularly. Many hundred thousand Americans live in Europe (many of them in Germany) and are mostly here with the military for 2 to 5 years. Still, many Americans settle in Europe for good.

For the education and the sport conception of these players and coaches became the DSU the implementing agreement.

Base Training

At the beginning of each season, there are scouting days after which up to 20 players are selected from each age group. These players train in their districts/ regions 2 to 3 times a month. The teams compete in tournaments and friendly games in Germany and Europe. Some of the players are simultaneously active in a school team or a European club team.

The best players from each district/ region are called up to play for the State Team Europe, the ODP Europe. This is the selection of players outside the US and they make up the team for the so called 51st State. Each ODP team is entitled to field up to three non-American players.

By now some of our players have managed to get into high level club teams or regional selections. Claire Standeart, 13 years old, participated in our program as part of the ODP Europe for the last two years. She has now been selected to play for the U15 selection (the best 200 players are invited to play in one of four regional groups from which the National Team members are then chosen).

The same goes for Jaelyn Coathes, who after two years with us also received an invitation to the selection.

Many of our players in the ODP made the jump into respected German clubs. Connor Hamilton, 14 years old plays for FK Pirmasens’ U15 and Joshua Smith for the U17 of Karlsruher SC.
